Client: John Hampden Grammar School
Following a well-received video for the Year 7 Induction Tour, I was asked to be part of a team producing a number of videos, designed to replace the conventional "Open Evening" which the school would normally be running in late September.
At the end of July, I shot the master "Head's Speech" video - for this I provided my full Sony FS7 camera kit with fast zooms, full lighting and sound kit. Ahead of the shoot, I ensured that the setup would be compatible with the school's existing teleprompter kit. In early September, I shot and edited 8 of the 15 Head of Department / Subject Specialist videos and a "Sixth Form Perspectives" video. This was a fast-paced day, involving multiple location changes. Once again, I shot this on my FS7 camera kit but using a smaller setup.
Filming in schools during the coronavirus pandemic is a high-risk activity for both production teams and the staff and students. Hence, particular importance was placed on ensuring that COVID-19 guidelines were followed at all times. This included scheduling movement around the school to avoid coinciding with the movement of students between lessons, and wearing masks at all times in corridors and when in close proximity with talent.
My colleagues Kit Walker and Ian Stubbs produced the rest of the videos. Kit was also responsible for the design of the website, and I assisted with finalising the design / feel of the website. The project launched on-schedule, and in the first afternoon had accumulated over 500 video views.
