LIVE STUDIO PEDESTAL / HANDHELD / ROBOTIC CAMERA OPERATOR & ASSISTANT
I am a BBC and Sky trained studio camera operator specialising in pedestal work, and I work on a wide variety of multicamera studio shows. This includes light entertainment, sports presentation and rolling news. I am accustomed to using camera scripts and following shot cards, especially for music, but I am equally comfortable working on unscripted programming.
In addition, I am experienced at assisting wired Steadicam, handheld, jib and pedestal cameras on fast-paced programming.
- Scripted music - I can bar-count
- Busked music - my background as a musician gives me good timing abilities
- "Unscripted" shows - quiz/panel/debate shows
- Sitcoms, soap operas - following conventional camera scripts or shot-lists
- Live news - following constantly updating rundowns, operating local or remote studio cameras
I can rig lightweight or box-lens camera packages from scratch including cradles, autocue and vanity monitors, as well as perform front-line maintenance. I can prepare and test new equipment, performing visual and technical checks to confirm correct operation. I have good engineering knowledge, and work closely with technical staff to identify and resolve issues before they affect production - whether that be a cable requiring cleaning or a more complicated routing issue.
